Getting Started

Starting somewhere new can feel daunting for the individual and for their family. At The Base, we do everything we can to make the transition as smooth, welcoming, and positive as possible.

How It Works

The process, step by step

  1. 1

    Get in touch

Contact us by phone or email to express your interest. We're happy to answer any initial questions and tell you more about what we offer.

  2. 2

    Come for a visit

We invite prospective service users and their families or carers to visit The Base. This gives everyone the chance to see the environment, meet staff, and ask questions in a relaxed setting.

  3. 3

    Assessment and planning

We will carry out an initial assessment to understand the individual's needs, preferences and goals. We work closely with local authority teams to ensure the placement is properly funded and planned.

  4. 4

    Taster sessions

Before starting full attendance, we offer taster sessions so the individual can get used to the environment and staff at their own pace.

  5. 5

    Starting full attendance

Once everyone is happy and the support plan is in place, the individual starts attending The Base. We review their programme regularly to make sure it continues to meet their needs and goals.

Funding

Attendance at The Base is typically funded through a social care personal budget allocated by the local authority. If you are unsure about funding, we can advise you on next steps, including speaking with your local authority social work team.
